Tafila Technical University (TTU)

Tafila Technical University (TTU) was established in January 2005. It contributes to the development of higher education in Jordan. Since then, it has sought to realize its objectives. On top of these objectives are the reinforcement of spiritual and moral values, national pride and the development of students’ talents with emphasis on the qualities of leadership and citizenship. The ways to realize these objectives include offering higher education and meeting the communal need for specialists in science and technology and arts. In addition, the university encourages scientific research, sets findings into practice and uses modern technologies for Jordan development. TTU has seven colleges and deanships: Engineering, Science, Business, Education, Arts, Student Affairs and Scientific Research and Graduate Studies. The number of students in 2018 has reached five thousand students spread over different programs: Bachelor programs, two-year intermediate diploma programs, higher diploma programs and master programs. The number of faculty members has recently reached 255, whereas the number of the administrative staff amounted to 645. TTU Campus is witnessing a construction boom in buildings, facilities and infrastructure for a number of laboratories, centres, classrooms, restaurants and administrative departments. Engineering workshops with the latest machinery and equipment will be also moved to the new buildings. Recently, TTU radio started broadcasting. This infrastructural expansion was accompanied by developments in academic programs, number of faculty members and number of scholarship holders who pursue their studies at the world’s most prestigious universities. TTU has taken confident steps towards the consolidation of e-learning, online registration and information technology among students and faculty members. The Computer Centre has an integrated infrastructure, several computer laboratories and technical competencies in the fields of computer and information technologies. TTU is a member of the Arab Universities Union and since its establishment it signed many agreements of academic collaboration with international and regional institutions. To enhance dialogue between cultures, TTU is involved in many national, regional and international projects.
